Data: A detailed battalion/company level simulation of D-Day. Operations include airdrops, naval gunfire support, air power, and beachhead assaults. Five section map.

Comments:

A big game, with much to offer players. Atlantic Wall covers the first twenty-six days of the invasion of Europe by Allied forces in World War II. It is the 'real deal' with invasion turns, and build up and battle turns once you get on land. It features six scenarios with variable victory levels and one campaign game where the Allied player can select his goal for victory .

Details:

Maps: 5 Maps, 1 hex = 1 kilometer, 2000 Counters.
Each counter represents either a Company or Battalion;
a Destroyer, Cruiser, or Battleship; an Air Group or Wing.

Each turn is 4.5 hours of real time.

The system is based on Wacht Am Rhein.

Formats:

This was the last SPI game published in a flat pack (actually a double flat pack, catalogue # AT - see photo gallery below, though I added 2 additional trays in that picture.) It quickly changed to a 4" box ( cat# 1980 -  shown above.)

NOTE: There are also the infamous 'Zocchi Boxes.' Following the fall of the company, where Lou Zocchi had copies of the game parts, but no boxes, he photocopied the original box covers in black and white, and then papered the blank boxes with these b&w covers to sell the games as boxed games.)

Pricing: Advanced pricing was $26; Published at $28, with jumps each catalogue to $33 by June 1980.
